Basketball player, Ruth Omotayo Udueyin says "I’ll be glad to make the D’Tigress squad to Paris 2024 Olympics"

Senegal-based Nigerian basketball player, Ruth Omotayo Udueyin, is looking forward to being part of the country’s women’s national team, D’Tigress, to the 2024 Olympics Games scheduled for Paris, France.

The 22-year-old Udueyin, who started her basketball career in the 2011/2012 season, stated that she was working

very hard to be in the national team soon, adding she also plans to take her basketball career to the United States.

The Delta State-born player began her dunking career with First Bank Basketball Club in Lagos before relocating

to Senegal, where she plays for Jarraf Basketball Club.

“If I have the opportunity to play for Nigeria at the national level, I will be glad because playing for the country

again will be a dream come true for me,” Udueyin said. “It will be great to play for the D’Tigress at

the World Championship and at the next Olympics Games. Currently, I play for Jarraf Basketball Club in Senegal.

The club is so good to us. They really take care of us by providing for our needs. We operate like members of

one big family. We always look out for each other, work out together and laugh together. That is what makes

our bond to be very strong,” she stated.

Udueyin, who attended Avi Ceena International School in Lagos, added: “My dream as a basketball player is

to have a great professional career in other countries. That will enable people in other countries to see that

there are good basketball players in Nigeria. I will like to represent my country, Nigeria, and also help

the upcoming players (girls) by motivating them to play basketball.

“I am looking forward to that time when I will be able to show the upcoming players that if I can do it,

they can also play great basketball. I will tell them they can also use basketball as a tool to achieve something

great in life.”
