President Muhammadu Buhari has charged ministers in his cabinet to defend the government against politically-motivated activists who he said spread falsehoods to members of the public.
The president also tasked his ministers to go offensive in projecting the achievements of the government.
“I have to charge all of you to defend the Government vigorously and not allow irresponsible and politically motivated activists to keep spreading patent falsehoods about this government”, Buhari tackles activists.
“Information to the public should be better packaged. Go on the offensive. We are proud of our achievements and we should blow our own trumpets,” Buhari added.
Buhari spoke on Tuesday in Abuja during his second term First Year Ministerial Performance Review Retreat.
The First Year Ministerial Performance Review Retreat focused on the examination of the performance of ministers and other officials in the President’s cabinet.
Succinctly, President Buhari took his time to highlight the achievements of the government in his Retreat closing remark. According to him, there are records of success in infrastructure development, anti-corruption fight, security and economy.
However, the president said the negative effects of COVID-19 outbreak is huge on his Administration. Still, he said the launch of a twelve-month Economic Sustainability Plan will cushion the effect of the pandemic on Nigerians.
Buhari concluded by saying he looks forward to a result-oriented year that benefits Nigerians.
