The Actor and producer Idris Elba is tired of internet trolls hiding behind fake usernames and private profiles.

The 48-year-old took to Instagram Sunday morning to call for the verification of all social media users, not just celebrities.
“People in the public eye get verified on social media, (symbolized by a blue tick), the process of verification
requires them to prove their IDENTITY, so everyone knows WHO is speaking,” Elba began.
Actor, Idris Elba, has suggested that social media companies make it compulsory for people to identify
themselves properly before creating an account, to reduce trolling on social media.
He said a lot of faceless people hide behind anonymous accounts to say damaging things because they know
they can get away with it.
He added that the way celebrities are verified on social media, there should be a way for account users to
make their real identity known so everyone knows who is speaking.
“If cowards want to spout racial rhetoric then say it with your name, not your username,” the actor said.
As of now, Twitter says that their blue check feature exists to let “people know that an account of public interest is authentic.”
