Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a new deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024.
The German-born tactician guided the Blues to their second-ever Champions League glory in the recently concluded
season following their 1-0 triumph over Manchester City in an all-English final Despite their poor start to the 2020-21
season, Thomas Tuchel was named Frank Lampard’s replacement after signing an 18 months deal.
His arrival turned everything around as they reached the finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League
while they crawled back into the top four on the table
And his performances in the first five months of his reign at the London club have earned him another two years deal
and he will be expected to win more titles for them.
The announcement was made on Chelsea’s official website.
“Chelsea Football Club is very happy to confirm that, following our triumph in the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel’s contract has been extended by two years, as agreed when he joined the Club.
” Tuchel failed to win double following his side’s slim defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup final
at Wembley Stadium but he stepped up his game against City to lift the UCL title.
So far, Tuchel has overseen 30 games as Chelsea boss, winning 19 of those games and losing on five, while the remaining six ended in stalemates
The German manager expressed delight at the faith shown to him by Chelsea as he promised more to come in his time at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel said:
“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”
Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to extend Thiago Silva’s contract Legit.ng earlier reported that West Ham United might
be interested in the signing of Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley this summer. The two players have fallen significantly in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, sparking speculation they could be moved on. Reports there is a
long list of players available for sale at the west London club this summer, with Thomas Tuchel keen
to trim his current squad in readiness for next season.
