The Kano State Police Command, has arrested 35 suspected armed robbers and 24 suspected drug dealers.
The State Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed this on Thursday, ,
He disclosed that the suspects were found with dangerous weapons, stolen properties and large quantities of illicit drugs.
Kiyawa said investigations on the case was still on-going
Once the investigation is completed, the suspects will be charged to court.
In reaction to the directives of the Inspector General of Police,Alkali Baba Usman
to rid Kano State of all forms of crimes and criminality, especially the menace of thuggery (Daba), Drug Abuse (Kwaya) and other Social Vices,
the Command swung in to action which led to the Clearance Operation carried out within the Takutaha
This culminated in the arrest of the 59 Suspects
The Kano State Commissioner of Police CP Sama’ila Shu’ibu Dikko used used the occasion to warn criminals, especially thugs and drug dealers to either repent or flee the state completely
He added that the state is allergic to crime and its elements.
He also thanked the good people of Kano State for their support and cooperation.
Also, he appealing to the residents to pray for the state, the nation and report incidents promptly to the nearest police stations, and not to take laws into their hands.
While adding that, “Rigorous Patrol and Raids of criminals’ hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State, as the Command will sustain the tempo in ensuring safety of lives and properties.”
