Super Eagles return to winning ways with a convincing victory of 'Central African Republic 0 -2 Nigeria'

The Super Eagles got back to winning ways Sunday evening on matchday 4 of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic after a humiliating 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture on Thursday in Lagos against the same opposition.

The game was at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, with a convincing 2-0 victory over the Central African Republic on Sunday, October 10.

First-half goals from Leon Balogun and Victor Osimhen helped the team defeat the same opponents

who won them four days ago in Lagos.

Balogun latched on to a cross to beat the CAR goalkeeper at his near post before Osimhen got the second goal

just before the half-time break.

Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was on the bench in the 1-0 defeat to the Central African Republic on Thursday in Lagos after the missing of his flight made him arrive late to the camp.

However, the goalie was restored to the starting lineup in Douala. 

Victory in Douala on Sunday saw Gernot Rohr’s men take a massive step towards qualification for the knockout a

nd final phase of qualification for Qatar 2022 World Cup 

The Super Eagles now lead the group with nine points from four games.
