Last week, Vacheron Constantin welcomed WatchTime Magazine and its readers to one the first viewings at its new
New York City flagship boutique. The event was hosted by Vacheron Constantin President of the Americas Alexander
Schmiedt, and included a cocktail hour followed by a presentation and discussion between Schmiedt and also WatchTime’s Senior Editor, Mark Bernardo.
The new space, as became quickly apparent, was much more than a simple retail store, instead serving more as the
most comprehensive immersion into the brand that’s offered outside of its manufacture in Geneva. “I don’t like the
word ‘boutique,’ Schmiedt posited. “Because this space is so much more than that.” Among its attractions, the flagship
contains a number of immersive, and also rotating exhibitions like the one dedicated to the American 1921 pièce
unique modeled after the 1921 original (below), in addition to a VIP lounge, an in-house watchmaker, a massive digital
archive, and, also naturally, plenty of watches on display for perusing and purchasing.
Located just two blocks south of Central Park, the new Vacheron Constantin Flagship spans more than 4,500 square
feet and covers two floors, the entire space hosting striking design inspired by both modern luxury and 19th-century
architecture, acting as a reflection of both Vacheron Constantin itself and classic New York City aesthetics. The space also features a distinctive glass façade opening directly onto 57th Street with a sleek, brass-toned design in the shape of the maison’s emblem, the Maltese Cross, marking the entrance.
The new Vacheron Constantin Boutique is now open to the public, with a series of grand opening events planned for the fall. It is located at 28 East 57th Street in Manhattan, between Madison and Park Avenues.
